WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-14) recently returned from a visit aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) aircraft carrier, also known as the ‘Big Stick.’ Over the course of the two-day embark – which began with the congressman landing on the carrier at sea  – Swalwell met with command leadership, connected with sailors, and observed flight operations.

“It was an honor to meet with the men and women of our Navy who work each and every day to keep us safe at home and abroad,” said Swalwell. “Aircraft carriers remain the nation’s preeminent power projection platform and the cornerstone of our Navy. As China spoils for a showdown with the United States, this visit was especially timely. Our naval superiority and readiness are the best deterrents against a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, or any act China would take against the United States.”
