City of Berkeley issued the following announcement on Dec. 8
This year the Department’s Community Services Bureau (CSB) and Youth Services Division (YSD) are having a Toy Drive that will benefit the Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency (BOSS) program, which currently provides shelter and support services to unhoused families within our City.
Over the past few weeks, it has been a joy to see so many of you bring donations for families in need.
Recently, the City of Berkeley’s Health Department issued Emergency Rules to align with the State’s order to limit certain activities. In light of this, the Department has cancelled the next three in-person Holiday Toy Drive dates (12/8, 12/10 and 12/15).
Instead, the Department will host a contact-free curbside drop-off in front of the Police Station on December 17th from 3 pm to 7 pm.
We encourage everyone to keep their donations in their trunk or the backseat of their vehicle. When you arrive at the Police Station, you simply need to pull to the curbside (MLK Jr. Way) and an officer will walk over to retrieve your generous donation.
The Department is accepting new, unwrapped toys for the following age groups: 4-8, 9-12, 13-17 years old.
Please note: We will not be able to accept gift cards, clothes or other items.
