City of San Leandro recently issued the following announcement.
Event Name: Teen Art Workshop

Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
In the Spirit of both Filipino American HIstory Month and Halloween, we'll be creating postcards centered around the Babylans. They were important figures in pre-colonial communities in the Philippines as they had abilities to communicate with spirits, heal people, and divination which helped Datus/Leaders choose the correct path for their people.
As Halloween is the season for spirits, this Babylan is offering candles and food as a way to say , "Hey let's be friends and work together!".
In this workshop, I will be breaking down how artist Michele Cajes draws each element in the image and show techniques on how to color with color pencils and markers. Students are encouraged to be creative with their colors, use patterns and add words to the postcard!
Please register in advance and pick up a supply kit at the library during curbside pick up.
