Alameda County home prices fall in April 2025 compared to April 2024

In April, the median sale price of a home in Alameda County fell by $120,000 from the same period in the previous year, while total sales increased by 8.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

There were 859 homes sold in April, with a median sale price of $1,050,000 — a 10.3% decrease from the $1,170,000 median sale price during the same period of the previous year. In comparison, 789 homes were sold in Alameda County in April 2024.

Based on the latest available data from 2021, the median sales tax in Alameda County was $6,683, which stands at 0.6% of April’s median home sale price.

The U.S. housing market has surged in recent years, with its total value approaching $50 trillion in 2024—nearly five times its value in 2000.
“The value of America’s housing market will likely cross the $50 trillion threshold in the next 12 months as there are not enough homes being listed to push prices down,” said Redfin Economics Research Lead Chen Zhao.
