HAYWARD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: 2,000 Vaccinations for Front Line Workers at St. Rose Hospital: Chamber Crisis

Vaccine

Hayward Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Dec. 21

It was a historic, busy weekend at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward as 2,000 members of its medical staff and local emergency service workers were inoculated against the COVID-19 virus by teams from the Alameda County Health Care Services Agency.

In addition to St. Rose physicians and nurses, vaccinations went to police, firefighters and ambulance workers. They got a card (photo left) attesting that they received the vaccine.

"Our hospital is proud to play an important role with the county in providing our healthcare staff and first responders this vital and important life-saving vaccine," said St Rose CEO Aman Dhuper. "This is a historic moment for our community, our hospital, our staff, and our county."

California received 327,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and is inoculating health care workers who deal directly with COVID-19 patients. The vaccine needs to be given in two doses about three weeks apart, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The state could receive another 233,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine this week and is in line to take delivery of 672,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine beginning today.
